SPECIFICATIONS
Part 1 General
1.01 Work Included - Sectional overhead doors shall be as supplied by GADCO and as
shown on plans. Doors shall be constructed of 26, 24, or 20 gauge prefinished galvanized
steel.
1.02 Related Work - Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work,
access panels, field painting, field electrical wiring, etc. are in the Scope of Work of
other divisions or trades.
Part 2 Product
2.01 Sections - Sections shall be rollformed of commercial quality galvanized
cold-rolled steel. The exterior surface shall be rollformed with two (2) U-shaped deep
ribs and three (3) small "pencil" ribs to provide strength and minimize surface
imperfections. The horizontal meeting edges of each section shall be formed in ship-lap
fashion. All stiles shall be formed of heavy galvanized steel. End stiles shall be box
shaped and center stiles shall be hat shaped. All stiles shall be attached to the section
with blind rivets at points of contact. Thickness of each section shall be 2"
minimum. See GADCO hardware and insulation availability section for option details.
2.02 Track - 2" or 3" track shall be manufactured from heavy gauge
galvanized steel. A wedge type closing action will be accomplished with adjustable
vertical track. Vertical track shall be attached to jambs with 12 gauge adjustable
brackets or continuous angle. Horizontal track shall be reinforced with heavy galvanized
steel angle.
2.03 Hardware - Shall be heavy gauge galvanized steel. Rollers shall have a
continuous steel rim, encasing 10 (ten) hardened 1/4" diameter steel ball bearings.
All hinges, brackets and fixtures shall be attached securely to the stiles with 1/4"
diameter thread forming screws. Pre-punched and extruded holes in the stiles shall allow
100% screw/thread engagement for superior holding power. Interior side lock standard, with
keyed lock optional.
2.04 Finish - Prefinished section material shall be chemically cleaned before
application of primer followed by a polyester coating on the face side, and a polyester
coating on the inside.
2.05 Reinforcing Struts - Struts shall be supplied, one per section, on all ribbed steel doors over 12'2" wide up to and including doors 18'2" wide. Doors over 18'2" wide shall have one strut per section plus one additional strut per section, plus trusses applied on alternating struts. All ribbed steel doors over 15'2" wide shall have double end stiles, double roller hinges and long stem rollers.
2.06 Counterbalance - Counterbalance shall be oil tempered and helical wound
torsion springs engineered to comply with industry standard 10,000 cycles, extended cycle
life optional. (Reference ANSI/DASMA 102)
Part 3 Execution
3.01 Inspection - Inspect the surfaces that the door is to be attached to and
assure that they are structurally sound and properly prepared to receive the door. Review
all dimension sizes of the opening and the door to assure the specified design criteria
has been met.
3.02 Installation - Install the doors in accordance with General American Door
Company instructions and standards. Installation will be by authorized General American
Door Company representatives.
GADCO LIMITED WARRANTY
General American Door Company (GADCO) warrants to the original purchaser that each
commercial sectional door will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a
period of one year following the date of purchase, excepting normal wear and tear, abuse,
misuse or accident. Labor charges for replacement not included.
