Hörmann Patents Safety Catch
Montgomery IL, March 20, 2009. Hörmann has received a US patent on its unique safety catch device for garage doors.

Hörmann places great emphasis on safety, with pinch protection on its new steel doors, and cables designed to carry five times the door weight. For the extremely unlikely event of a cable or spring failure, the company also builds a safety catch into its premium doors.

This device is spring-actuated and entirely mechanical, so it does not depend on electricity or batteries. If the door starts to drop, it immediately catches in the track, arresting the door and preventing it from dropping.

This device has now been awarded US patent no. 7,484,332 in recognition of its uniqueness and usefulness.

Larry Campbell, Hörmann LLC’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, noted “We take safety very seriously, and this newly patented safety catch is just one more way we offer added value to our customers.”
